What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a dermaroller procedure that uses small needles to prick the skin. The purpose of treatment is to generate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, more toned skin.

Microneedling is mostly used on the face and may treat various scars, wrinkles, and large pores.

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a cosmetic procedure that involves a physical exfoliation method using a sterile surgical scalpel to gently shave the top layer of the skin, the stratum corneum, dead skin layer, and vellus hair, aka “peach fuzz”. This treatment results in ultra-smooth, fresh, and brighter skin.

By removing that dead layer and hair from the

face, the skin is evened out, and it helps with cell metabolism, which helps new skin come to the surface. Dermaplaning is actually one of the most effective dermatologist-backed solutions for dealing with dull skin.

Dermaplaning can be used for any skin type and anyone with:

  • Acne scars

  • Dull skin

  • Dry skin

  • Sun-damaged skin

  • Fine wrinkles

  • “Peach fuzz” the short, soft hairs on your face

What to expect after your procedure?

You may notice that your skin looks brighter immediately after you’re finished with a dermaplaning treatment, but it often takes a few days to appreciate the full results.

As any redness subsides, you’ll be able to see the results more clearly in the days afterward.

What are the side effects?

Dermaplaning is safe for most skin types, especially those with sun damage, fine lines, dry patches, and dull skin. It is contract indicated to' highly reactive, 'sensitive skin '(like those with rosacea or keratosis pilaris), inflamed acne, infected skin conditions & those with allergies.

Will dermaplaning cause breakouts?

A buildup of dead skin can clog your pores and hair follicles, which can not only cause pimples but also block your skincare products from penetrating the skin, which is why exfoliation is essential for maintaining an even, healthy glow.

But like I said, if you already have an existing breakout, you’ll unfortunately need to wait until your skin has fully recovered before trying this treatment out!

Does dermaplaning hurt?

Not at all!

Is there down time with Dermaplaning?

Not at all although in some people mild erythema (skin redness) might appear.

Can you wear makeup after dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning removes all the little hairs on your face,'your makeup will actually glide on super smoothly. However, to give your skin time to adjust, you should avoid applying a full face of makeup immediately after your dermaplaning treatment.

Will dermaplaning make my hair grow back thicker?

Not at all!

How often do I need dermaplaning treatments?

The procedure clears away up to three weeks’ worth of dead skin cells. After three weeks to a month, your results will have faded. We recommend waiting at least 4 weeks between appointments, although some patients with sensitive skin can even limit their treatments to once a season.

Will dermaplaning make my skin more sensitive to the sun?

After a dermaplaning treatment, you’ll need to be extra careful about sun exposure.

Sun damage could reverse the effects of dermaplaning, or create pigment blotches on your freshly uncovered skin cells. In the weeks after a dermaplaning treatment, you must apply  sunscreen on your face when going outside.
